Aarsleff Rail has been working hard to get ready for the inauguration of the new Carlsberg Station. On 3rd July the first train - a special train - arrived at the station carrying, among others, the Danish Minister for Transport and Building, Hans Christian Schmidt, and the CEO of the Danish railway company DSB, Flemming Jensen.

At Carlsberg Station, the passengers were welcomed by the Danish Railway Orchestra and Carlsberg City's CEO Jens Nyhus. The Minister for Transport gave thanks to all involved for the impressing station which is expected to be the Capital of Copenhagen’s fifth busiest with 24,000 travelers a day. Subsequently, the cord was clipped by DSB's CEO Flemming Jensen who declared the station open, and at 12:01 the first regular commuter train stopped at the station.

The culmination of 2.5 years of hard work

-The opening of the station is the culmination of approximately 2.5 years of an exciting but challenging work, says project manager Morten Hansen from Aarsleff Rail A/S.

Morten Hansen especially points out logistics, the pressure of space and environmental challenges due to the station's location and the fact that the operation of the tracks had to be maintained throughout the construction period allowing only for the most necessary track closures. -Along the way, we have rescheduled the catenary system temporarily to make way for the conversion of tracks and the construction of the new platform in the track area. And seven meters above the station we have cast a bridge deck for bicycle parking with access to the platform via three staircases, two escalators and a lift.

The contract is executed for Carlsberg Byen P / S and comprises, in addition to the establishment of the new station, the demolition of the old Enghave Station. –The work begins this fall, says Morten Hansen.

The work has involved several departments in Aarsleff Rail, from track, catenary system and electric works, to structures.
